AIBCnews Issue 171: September 2018

As we welcome Spring, both our countries live in “interesting times”. Australia is still coming to terms with recent political upheavals, as the Morrison Government settles in, and Indonesia grapples with its currency under pressure ahead of next year’s Presidential Election.

On the global scene, the tit-for-tat “Trade War” between the USA and China continues to escalate, with no end in sight and with implications for our region difficult to predict. Meanwhile the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP 11) is set to pass the Australian Senate after receiving bipartisan support.

Here, with the Indonesia Australia Business Summit just successfully concluded in Melbourne, anticipation is building for our AIBC Conference on the Gold Coast, Nov 11-13.

Tom Lembong, Chairman of the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) delivering the Keynote address to IABS 2018.

For our Conference we are very delighted to have the key support of Telstra and telkomtelstra as joint Platinum Sponsors, along with Austrade, PwC, Garuda Indonesia, Bluescope, EMR Capital, TAFE Queensland and Asialink Business as Gold Sponsors. A range of other important organisations are also kindly supporting our Conference and we sincerely thank them all.

Of course, aside from our supporting organisations, many key figures in the Australia-Indonesia relationship will also be there, representing a broad range of sectors and perspectives. See our Conference Program here for more details.
