Dear [[firstname]],

I’m delighted to share that AIBC has been officially awarded a grant under the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) Southeast Asia Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) Modernisation Grant Program. This marks a significant milestone in our efforts to strengthen Australia-Indonesia trade relations. The purpose of the grant is to seek industry and stakeholder contributions towards modernising the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA), 5 years since its inception in 2020.

Leading the delivery of the grant program, AIBC is supporting an in-depth review and upgrade of IA-CEPA, in close partnership with Asialink Business and Justin Brown, former Deputy Secretary (Trade) at DFAT as our Subject Matter Expert on FTAs. Justin will facilitate the stakeholder consultations, which will take place across capital cities and sectors, combined with in-depth research and analysis to provide strategic recommendations to DFAT by late February 2026.

We plan for stakeholder consultations to take place from October to early December across all capital cities, as well as online consultations for key industry sectors. In addition, it will be possible to provide written submissions through our website.

This presents a unique opportunity for AIBC members to provide their input into updating, enhancing and modernising IA-CEPA to ensure that it remains relevant to Australian business.

We look forward to your contributions and will continue to keep you updated as we move into delivery and finalise the consultation schedule.

We welcome registrations of interest here.

Warm regards,

Jennifer Mathews
