AIBC News - Issue 159, October 2017

Dear Members and Friends,

AIBC held its 2017 Annual General Meeting in Canberra on September 14. At this meeting I was elected National President, along with Dr Kathleen Turner as National Vice President, and Wendy Hartanti as National Treasurer. Together with our respective State and Territory Chairs, we are delighted to represent our organisation and its Members, and are committed to making a difference to the Trade and Investment relationship between our countries, particularly with the finalization of IA-CEPA imminent.

AIBC thanks PwC who kindly hosted the AGM and the day’s activities, which included meetings with key representatives from both the Australian and Indonesian governments, and members of the Indonesia-Australia Business Partnership Group.

IA-CEPA will surely dominate the landscape over coming months, with Round 9 of negotiations to be held in Bali in early October. With only one further round scheduled after that, we are in the home stretch. This is reinforced by Minister Ciobo’s visit to Jakarta on 20 September to meet with his counterpart Minister Lukita, during which a deadline of November was set to conclude the Agreement, and some agreed initiatives and focus areas were restated.  To continue reading AIBC October News, please click here.
