AIBC: AIBC's response to the Indonesian COVID-19 Situation

An update on
AIBC’s Response to the Indonesian COVID-19 Situation

Save the Children on the ground in Indonesia, providing life-saving support

Dear AIBC Members and Friends,

Whilst Indonesia’s surge of detected COVID-19 cases has declined nationally since peaking last month, there has been a sharp rise in regions outside Java and Bali. Many of our families, friends and colleagues remain at risk as vaccination programs accelerate and public activity restrictions (PPKM) prevail.

Through this, AIBC is continuing its efforts to offer whatever support it can, and we are grateful for the generosity of our Members and Friends who have so far contributed to our Campaign in partnership with Save the Children, with more information on the work of Save the Children in Indonesia and our partnership available here.

AIBC is delighted to have played an active role, working with the Western Australian Government, to secure $2 million in relief funding, that is to be distributed via WA-based Indonesian Community Groups in partnership with registered Australian and Indonesian charities offering on-the-ground support.

The Media Statement from the Premier of Western Australia announcing this initiative can be viewed here, along with further information on the Program from the Office of Multicultural Interests here.

The AIBC / Save the Children Campaign is particularly acknowledged in both announcements, as welcome recognition of the efforts we have been making together.

We will draw our Campaign to an end at the close of business this Friday 13th August, so that raised funds can be distributed, and we urge those still keen to assist to make their donation now.

Donations can be made on behalf of businesses, individuals or group fundraising efforts, and are tax-deductible in Australia. Your contribution may well save a life or many lives.
