Over the past 12 months, we have seen the Australia - Indonesia relationship shift into full gear. Here are some of the headlines, in case you missed them:

 

  • Launching of Australian Government’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, led by Special Envoy, Nicholas Moore.
  • Announcement by Australian Government of a $2bn investment facility to boost investment in Southeast Asia.
  • The election of a new Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, who will be sworn in with his new Ministry in October this year.
  • Major infrastructure projects are underway, notably, the ambitious construction of the new capital Nusantara in Kalimantan, with an opening promised for August 2024.
  • New Halal regulations will be introduced in Indonesia and will become mandatory for the first tranche of products on 17 October 2024. This will affect Australian businesses exporting food and beverage products to Indonesia.
  • The President elect announces a free lunch program for Indonesian school students. What will this mean for Australian producers?
  • In Education, Australian universities are leading the way in establishing a presence in Indonesia
  • And in Healthcare we are seeing a strong demand for Australian healthcare infrastructure and services.

The AIBC National Conference will be the first conference of its kind to be held following the inauguration of the new Indonesian government.

What’s on the program?

Join us for the Welcome Reception at the stunning location of NSW Government House, hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC. This is a great opportunity to meet old friends and new and ease into the conference.

Day 2 brings you up to the minute insights from key figures such as Ambassadors Williams and Pramono, Senator Tim Ayres, Nicolas Moore AO  and Jennifer Westacott AO; with MC Kevin Evans, an astute observer and commentator on Indonesian politics and the economy.

There will be deeper sessions on particular industries including healthcare, education and skills, food and agriculture, energy transition, investment in infrastructure and the visitor economy to enable delegates with particular interests hear what is happening on the ground. - program here
